First I must apologise for not adding a blog in August.  We started August with a walk along the canal from Bradford on Avon to the Cross Guns at Avoncliff.  I say a walk, to be fair the club walked and I drove to meet them at the Cross Guns.  It was a very enjoyable evening for all and we were blessed with good weather.  Thanks to Becky for suggesting the evening.

The second social evening in August was a visit to the Seven Stars in Winsley.  I was unable to attend this due to being on a family holiday, but the feedback was very good from the members who attended.  The Club committee did a very good job in researching where to go for the evening.

On Bank Holiday Monday, Sarah, Ann and Caroline ran the barbeque at the Rising Sun in Bradford on Avon.  This was part of a fund raising weekend for Dorothy House and Adam Wicheard.  There is more information about this on our website.

The first members evening in September was supposed to be an evening visit to Iford Manor, near Westwood, however the weather was not so kind to us and we ended up at the Canal Tavern in Bradford on Avon.  I must say they coped admirably with our sudden arrival (there were 14 of us!).  We were also joined by 2 members of Melksham Rotary Club.  Thank you to Julia for sorting this out.

On 20th September we were treated to a very good evening by Trevor and Bryony, who hosted an English cheese and wine evening.  I did not know there were so many different cheeses and wines available from local sources.  It was an extremely good evening and very well catered by our hosts.

A very enjoyable part of our September business meeting was to officially welcome our new member, Alan to the club.  Alan has joined us from the Rotary Club of Swanage and Purbeck.

I feel I must mention District Conference even though it took place at the beginning of October.  There is a lot about this on the website but I must just say, after I dashed to get there after work on Friday night, what a wonderful and enjoyable event it was.  Being all together under one roof worked really well and meant we were able to socialize with other clubs easily.

Thank you for reading, don’t forget our quiz on Monday 18th October at the Polish Club.  There are still a few places left.
