The month of April flew by this year - 2 bank holiday Mondays in April and as we meet on mondays there was not much club time to do much at all!
However, we held our annual pub quiz, this year it was to benefit both Age Concern and the Children’s Hospice South West. At our annual Carnival Quiz last September we asked Frydays in Frome Rd Trowbridge, to supply us with Fish and Chips, this proved to be so successful that we didn’t hesitate in asking them for the same deal this year.
The
quiz had 8 rounds written by club members, and during the interval the
16 teams attending enjoyed their hot supper. As always, we thank the
staff at the Polish Club for giving up their only night off in the week
to open the club especially for us, their support with our quiz nights
is invaluable. Over £300 was raised by Ann Jones and her committee
by the event.
We also managed to fit in a business meeting where we were able to hand over a cheque to Alzheimer's Support, from money raised at our Bavarian Night in February 2010.
Members of the Club were delighted to receive an invitation to the Town Gathering from Trowbridge Town Council on Tuesday 27th
April, as we were told we would receive an award for services to the
town. This was the first time that the club had been honored in this
way, it shows that Wessex Mead Rotary are now recognized for the work
that we are doing.
