Wessex Mead Rotary members raided their garages and attics to supply ‘goodies’ for the car boot sale as part of Trowbridge Carnival’s Country Fayre.  It was a very early start for some, but well worth the effort as over £100 was raised for the Rotary Charity Foundation.

The following week, we hosted the Trowbridge Carnival Pub Quiz to raise funds to help Shaftesbury Court buy a new minibus (Trowbridge Carnival’s Charity this year).  Club members were involved in writing questions, asking them, marking them or answering them!  A record 25 teams took part, enjoying 8 rounds of questions plus an extra table round for a separate prize.  Frydays Fish Bar, Frome Rd Trowbridge supplied the delicious Fish supper that was served during the mid break.  Over £500 was raised in the evening which included a raffle.

As well as our usual business meeting that included a visit from our District Governor, we visited other clubs, got involved with marshalling at Frome Carnival, visited a Children’s hospice at their open day and met for a social evening at a local pub. Some members also went to France to visit with a French Rotary club with a view to possible twinning. This is much the same as how towns twin – a social relationship, learning about different cultures and in Rotary as a way to support joint international projects.
