Despite the changeable weather, Wessex Mead Rotary has been as busy as ever this month. We had Archery, Pub of the Month and the West Wilts Show.
We started the summer with Archery, by kind permission of our friends at Kingston Archery, who meet in Bradford on Avon. Archery is a favourite activity at Wessex Mead, we have tried to arrange an event every year, it does stir our competitive side, and we are getting better! though as it is only once a year, for a few hours, Robin Hood we are not! There are some pictures in our gallery. A lovely light summer evening we hoped for, rain felt like joining us for a while, but it didnt dampen our spirits!
A new addition to our Calendar this year is Pub of the Month, where we have put names of our favourite pubs into a hat and then visit en masse. This month's lucky winner was the Lamb on the Strand. The pub has it has recently changed hands, but we were made to feel welcome, and as we tucked into our supper, we all had an enjoyable evening. It has since been pointed out that the pub of the month is actually the Pub of the Quarter!
Then it was the big one, the West Wilts Show in Trowbridge Park! 23rd - 25th July 2009. Wessex Mead worked with Trowbridge Rotary and 9 other clubs to man the Rotary Roadshow Vehicle over 3 days. The idea was to promote Rotary and encourage new membership. Numerous information leaflets were handed out and 12 potential new members gave us their details. Please see the West Wilts Show Web site for more information about the show,
Some how we managed to fit in Rotary Business too!
