For some members of the club the month began with a burst of energy! The annual Rotary Exmoor Challenge took place on April 1st and Wessex Mead was represented by an enthusiastic group of 8. Members barely had chance to catch their breath before Monday 2nd April when the club hosted its annual pub quiz, this year in aid of the Hope Nature Centre in Southwick Country Park. A super charity, meeting the needs of our community. 21 teams strained their brains. A superb evening, well organised by the Community and Vocational Committee.
On Thursday 5th April a small group of us were fortunate to attend the Wessex Artists Preview Evening hosted by our mother club, the Rotary Club of Trowbridge. A brilliant array of artists were represented and much credit is due to the club for the organisation of the event for the benefit of our community. We returned to our busy committee evening on 16th April and plans are underway for the Young Chef competition to be held in conjunction with the three secondary schools in Trowbridge. We are also planning our contribution to the Spring Fayre in Trowbridge on May 5th, a sweet stall/tuck shop that will take us back in time! Later in the month we are going to be helping collect for the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group. On April 23rd we had an evening with a St Georges flavour! The International Committee focused on our nation with a virtual quiz....it needed lots of map reading and navigational skills as well as a competitive team spirit! The month ended with our business meal at Red or White, the food and service again, was excellent! We had plenty to discuss and plenty to look forward to! |
