I can’t believe another month has gone by – what a busy month it has been! The start of October was District Conference. I have no doubt you have already read about this on the website. After this, we went into helping with the carnival events.
The first of which was bag packing at Sainsbury’s in Trowbridge, which turned out to be a great success. The following Monday, 18th we had our annual Carnival Quiz which was won by the Westbury Wanderers, you can see pictures of the quiz on the website.
 Murder Mystery by Westbury Rotary
Following this on Tuesday 19th the club was invited to the Trowbridge in Bloom awards evening at St. Augustine’s college to present the first Young Persons award. This was given to Clarendon college with runners up being Southwick school. The carnival procession was next on Saturday 23rd October. The procession was in its new winter slot and was enjoyed by a huge crowd. Some of our members also helped out at the prize giving ceremony following the procession.
On a pleasant Saturday morning we turned up at Southwick Country park to plant 2,000 purple crocus bulbs at the side of the drive leading up to the Squirrels tea room. These bulbs should hopefully flower around 23rd February 2011 which is Rotary Awareness Day. We planted the bulbs in a record breaking 25 minutes and then enjoyed a great breakfast in the tea rooms – well recommended! The same day we were invited to join Westbury Rotary club for their Murder Mystery evening which was great fun and thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks to Westbury for a great night.
That’s all for October, but there is lots more to come in November.
