An active month which was really pleasing as there did not appear to be the 'slowing down' often associated with the end of a Rotary Year. On Monday 4th June we visited the beautiful village of Lacock for a Walking Treasure Hunt, starting and finishing, as can be expected, in a local hostelry! Congratulations to all teams taking part and especially to the winners!
On Saturday 5th May many of us volunteered our precious weekend time to man a stall at the Spring Fayre in Fore Street. This was part of our initiative to support community activities and raise our profile. On offer was a 'name the bear' competition and a hearty selection of yummy sweets. Thanks to everyone who helped!!!! It was interesting people watching on a lovely sunny day!
For some members of the club the month began with a burst of energy! The annual Rotary Exmoor Challenge took place on April 1st and Wessex Mead was represented by an enthusiastic group of 8. Members barely had chance to catch their breath before Monday 2nd April when the club hosted its annual pub quiz, this year in aid of the Hope Nature Centre in Southwick Country Park. A super charity, meeting the needs of our community. 21 teams strained their brains. A superb evening, well organised by the Community and Vocational Committee.
OOOmpah pah !! What a month. We had our 5th Annual Bavarian Night on Saturday 3rd March and it was a resounding success. Fully interactive as always and very well attended! The evening was exceptionally well planned and much credit to the international committee and all others who helped in whatever way. Henry Leigh of the Belarusian Ray of Hope spoke a few words and he will shortly be receiving a princely amount for the charity. The rest of the proceeds are going to World VIsion. I attended as a guest and had a brilliant time, there are some lively photos in the album so take a peek!
