Thanks to everyone who supported the big breakfast today, particularly John Knight and Peter Barnett from Fair Trade who supplied all our teas and coffees, plus Walter Rose and Sons, who gave us a wonderful deal on our bacon and sausages. Thanks also to Celia Young who donated the free range eggs.
Around 120 guests enjoyed their 3 course breakfast at North Bradley Memorial Hall, there was a buzz in the room where groups and couples arrived at various seatings throughout the morning, our instant raffle was a hit, and helped our total profit for Polio Erradication raise to approx £620, this will really make a difference in the fight against Polio.

The Young Enterprise Scheme is celebrating 50 years this year as the continue to "Save a lost generation to start something!".
The Rotary Club of Wessex Mead was approached by St Augustines School in Trowbridge to support students with their ventures. Club secretary Vicky was happy to get involved and here is her report -
"I have just started as a mentor for St Augustine's Young Enterprise Scheme. I am advising a group of Year 10 students who are setting up and running their own company for a year. The aim is to inspire future entrepreuneurs and build their business skills and confidence. The ladies' company is called Cherry Bomb and so far they are producing jewellery from recycled materials, although they are also looking at expanding the range. I was keen to support the scheme because it sits well with my role as financial trainer for English Heritage. Working with people so new to business is giving me a new insight into how daunting finance can be for non-specialists."

The Rotary Club of Chippenham organise the fireworks in Chippenham, this year it was on Saturday 3rd November and members of Wessex Mead were pleased to be able to support them again on the evening, we were there selling/checking tickets at the gates as well as selling glow sticks. It was once again a fabulous evening, the weather was perfect even if it was a bit wet underfoot - a great show!

On Thursday 25 October, members of Wessex Mead held a supper evening for members of the Trowbridge Visually Impaired Club. The Rotary Club of Trowbridge traditionally held this supper evening and when they closed earlier this year, Wessex Mead were happy to take on this tradition. Held in the Trowbridge Park Club, we served home cooked Chicken and Leek Pie or Beef casserole with fresh vegetables, followed by home cooked Apple and Blackberry crumble with custard or Sherry Trifle, plus their drinks. During the evening we were all entertained with live music.
