Wessex Mead (Trowbridge) Rotary Club was chartered in 2002. We have a varied membership made up of men and women from the local business and professional community. With an average age of less than 43 years, Wessex Mead has a much younger make-up than most other Rotary clubs. This youthful composition is reflected in the events and activities we engage in.
(The photo shows some of the Club members with District Governor Tony Quinn taking part in the 'Big Breakfast' raising money for Polio Plus, see the events pages for more information)
The Rotary Club of Wessex Mead meet at Red or White in Trowbridge on Monday evenings at 7.30, but we are a very active club, so please check our Calendar to find out where we are.
Joining a Rotary club is an excellent way to develop new friendships as well as get involved in worthwhile service projects both in the local community and further afield. If you would like to learn more about Rotary membership please get in touch with us.

Members of Wessex Mead Rotary were raising club funds and supporting Trowbridge Snooker Player Adam Wicheard this weekend at the 4 day Beer and Cider Festival at the Rising Sun Bradford on Avon. This Charity Rhythm and Booze Festival is raising funds for Dorothy House Hospice and we have taken the oportunity to be involved by running the BBQ on Saturday afternoon/early evening.
More than £90 was raised at the event and we would like to thank Liz at the Rising Sun.

SNOOKER star Adam Wicheard has followed in the footsteps of fellow Trowbridge cueman Stephen Lee by earning a place on the sport’s professional circuit. The 24 year-old, who went to Clarendon School, finished top of the Pro-Ticket Tour rankings to clinch his place. Wicheard’s achievement caps a sensational comeback for the Trowbridge ace, who suffered a career-threatening neck injury in May 2006. After recovering from having a tumour removed from his spinal cord, Wicheard is now getting ready to start life as a pro, but will have to play the waiting game before he starts marking dates on his calendar

My first month as President has passed with great optimism from the club for the new format.
We seem to be pressing ahead with our plans for the forthcoming year, which include our carnival quiz on 18th October and annual Bavarian Night on 12th March 2011. Full speed ahead for our second big breakfast, date and venue to be confirmed soon. All our youth events should be continuing this year as well as hopefully, a new event based around Kids make music – more details to follow soon.
Looking back on this month, many members went on a visit to Wadworth’s brewery and were joined by Trowbridge Lions, some members of a neighbouring Rotary club and some friends of Rotary. Then on 19th July Julia and I hosted a pasta evening at our house to raise money towards our twinning fund – this was very successful and enjoyed by all those who attended (as the empty plates proved!) At my first business meeting we were joined not only by the District Governor, Stan but also the assistant DG, David. The meeting seemed to go well and they were pleased to hear about our plans for the forthcoming year.
I am looking forward to the rest of my Rotary year and will have more to tell you at the end of August.
